Treatment Specifications

The plant can treat 50m³ of timber per day on a single shift and approximately 90m³ on a double shift. 70 litres of creosote is required to treat 1m³ of timber. Approximately 15000 litres is kept as "dead stock" as it is a permanent residue required to achieve the right level of pressure.

The main tank is long enough to treat telephone and electric poles. Our steam boiler heats the creosote to an operational temperature of 85°C. The quality of the pole treatment complies with the SAZ and SABS specifications. The creosote used complies with (BS144) British Standards and protects timber against fungus, wood borers and termites. It can preserve the wood for up to ±50 years.
